Bangladesh is getting admiration in the international arena for dealing with climate change
Md. Shahab Uddin, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Bangladesh, said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has achieved enviable success in dealing with the risks of climate change.
We are Getting appreciation from the international arena. The government has submitted the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to this end and finalized the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan 2022-2041. All the activities taken to deal with climate change risks in Bangladesh have been strengthened.”
The minister also said that our government had taken up 789 projects at the cost of Tk.3,36.00 million so far with the financing.
The Environment Minister said these things in the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Environmental Conservation for Sustainable Development – ICEPSD 2022 Conservation for Sustainable Development organized by Bangladesh Awami League ‘s Forest and Environment Sub-Committee at Dhaka University. The conference started under the theme ‘Green Bangladesh-Prosperous Bangladesh.’
The Environment Minister further added,” Despite various challenges in environmental protection, the current government is implementing different policies and programs to ensure a habitable and sustainable environment for the present and future population of the country.
The Department of Environment (DOE), Bangladesh, is conducting regular enforcement activities to control environmental pollution. Mobile Courts are operating against polluters to deal with human-made environmental pollution. Compelling industries that emit liquid waste install liquid waste treatment systems and implement zero-polluted discharge plans.
Through afforestation and forest conservation, restoration of degraded forests, and sustainable forest management, activities continue to increase the country’s tree-covered land area from 22.37 to 25 percent and forest area from 14.01 percent to 16 percent by 2030.
The government is carrying out campaigns to make people aware of tree planting and distributing saplings. We have to work with a commitment to keep our country green. To make Bangladesh prosperous and popularize green growth in the country, we have to focus on creating public opinion. “
