The level was reached shortly after 10 am on December 27, 2023.

After Dhaka, the city of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina was in the second position on December 28, 2023, where the level was 247.
India’s Delhi was in the third position, ranking 220. The fourth position was Istanbul, Turkey, which has a level of 213, and the fifth position was Kolkata, India, which has a level of 202.
After asking air pollution experts Professor Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder of Stamford University about this, he replied, “The current main cause of air pollution is the ongoing road construction/ rehabilitation work of Dhaka city.”
Also, unfit vehicles spread air pollution. This pollution level increases even more when winter comes.
He also said that the pollution was slightly reduced in November, but it increased in December. Elevated expressway construction is in progress across Dhaka city.
“The Constructors are also sprinkling water in some areas but only around their work area. This air pollution spreads further with vehicles.
Advising this air pollution expert, we should arrange water filtration in the entire city. Also, the authority getting tougher on unfit cars,” he added
