Forty-two countries are on the verge of disappearing from the earth – General of the Commonwealth
Forty-two small countries will disappear from the earth’s surface if appropriate measures do not tackle climate change. Hon Patricia Scotland QC, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, has called on the world community to take immediate action. She made the remarks in an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP) on October 13, 2021.
In the interview, Baroness Patricia said, “Forty-two small countries globally are on the verge of disappearance due to climate change. However, our actions seem like nothing will happen like that. But eventually, these small countries will disappear. “
“Small Commonwealth member states, such as the Pacific island nations of Tuvalu and Nauru, are now considering to relocate. Because the sea level is rising, and it is alarming,” she added.
Notably, The UN Climate Conference COP26 is about to happen in Glasgow, Stockland, from October 31 to November 12, 2021
The conference aims to reach an international agreement to prevent the use of carbon in the global economy and protect the world from catastrophic global warming.
Patricia Scotland called on the world leaders to take effective decisions on climate change from this conference.
