Bangladesh government is working relentlessly to control noise pollution: Environ Minister of Bangladesh

Md Shahab Uddin, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Bangladesh, said, “Unbearable noise levels have adverse effects on human health and the environment. So, our government is working on a priority basis to control noise pollution.”

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the workshop titled ‘Role of Stakeholders in Noise Pollution Control’ organized in Dhaka by the Department of Environment, Bangladesh, on August 21, 2022, in an integrated and partnership project to control noise pollution.



The minister said, ‘We must refrain from creating unnecessary noise in all cases to make it successful. In addition to being aware of this, others should also be aware.

Initiatives have been taken to include the subject in the curriculum to make children sound aware from childhood. It will be possible to control the noise pollution of the country if we get the cooperation of all concerned along with the initiative of the government to prevent noise pollution.”

The Environment Minister said, “Department of Environment is implementing a project named ‘Integrated and Partnership Project for Noise Pollution Control.’ Under this project, professionals, including students, transport drivers/workers, factory and construction workers, journalists, business people, Mosques Imam, teachers, and representatives of non-governmental organizations, are trained to play an active role in these activities.

Television, radio, and print media have also implemented awareness programs. Mobile Courts have been conducted for proper enforcement of the law.



The government will work with different agencies, including the Department of Environment, Bangladesh Police, City Corporation, and BRT (Bus Rapid Transit system in Dhaka City, to eliminate noise pollution in the quiet areas declared by the government.

Through this project, noise pollution regulations will update. In this regard, work will do according to the advice of the country’s experts.”
