Bangladesh is successful in protecting the climate change effects
Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Bangladesh National Parliament’s speaker, said, “Bangladesh is one of the top countries in the world that are worried about damage due to climate change. But, Bangladesh is minimizing these effects successfully by adopting appropriate time-based actions.”
She recently said this during her courtesy meeting with Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, at her office at Palace of Westminster in London.
Bangladesh National Flag was hoisted with the British Flag simultaneously in front of the stage established in the Westminster Buildings while Speaker Shirin Sarmin’s courtesy visit to the British Parliament.
At their meeting, they discussed climate change, poverty elimination, women empowerment, the Rohinga issue, Bangladeshi diaspora, social development, and Commonwealth Parliaments’ role.
Shirin Sharmin said, “Westminster and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) could work together in the fields of climate change and poverty elimination, including ensuring social development.”
“Also could exchange views among the parliaments under CPA at the government level on the existing and emerging issues at the Commonwealth Head of Government meeting of the Commonwealth countries,” she added.
Muna Tasnim, Bangladesh ambassador to Brittan, and M. A. Kamal Billah, joint secretary, were present at the meeting.
