Environment and human health are under threat due to water pollution

Water pollution is the pollution caused by human activities in the water body. Water bodies are lakes, rivers, seas, and underground wet rock layers. Pollutants present in water in the natural environment is called water pollution.

If insufficiently treated wastewater accumulates in natural water bodies, it can cause environmental degradation of aquatic ecosystems. This can lead to public health problems among the people living there.

They drink this contaminated water and use it for bathing or irrigation. Most of the waterborne disease outbreaks that affect or kill people around the world are caused by water pollution.

Pollution occurs as a result of increased activity over a long period. All plants and organisms that live in or come into contact with contaminated water can be affected. Pollution can destroy individual species and damage the natural ecosystems to which they belong.

The use of many chemicals and diseases can be mentioned as the cause of water pollution. There are also many physical postures. Contaminants can be organic or inorganic. High temperatures can also cause contaminated water.

A common cause of thermal pollution is the use of water as a coolant in thermal power plants and industrial plants. High water temperatures reduce oxygen levels, causing fish to die. This changes the composition of the food chain, reduces the ecosystem of species, and creates new species of heat-induced bacteria.

Water is often used as a coolant in thermal power plants and industrial plants, which can cause thermal pollution. High water temperatures reduce oxygen levels, causing fish to die. This changes the structure of the food chain, reduces the ecosystem of species, and creates new species of heat-induced bacteria.

Another way to prevent water pollution is nature-based solutions. Effective control of city sewage systems can be achieved by reducing the flow speed and volume. Efforts to reduce water quantity and improve water quality are the best measures to manage water pollution in the United States.

If water is affected by human-borne pollutants, then that water is called polluted. As a result of these pollutants, this water becomes unfit for human drinking and use. Moreover, the livelihood of fish and aquatic animals is threatened.

Natural events like volcanoes, algal blooms, storms, and earthquakes can greatly impact the quality of water and its ecological state. Water pollution is a serious global problem.

For this, evaluation and re-evaluation of water resources policy at all levels is necessary. It is believed that water pollution is the main cause of all diseases and deaths in the world

Water pollution is a big problem that could threaten life on Earth in the future, according to the Global Marine Ecological Survey. Water pollution poses a significant threat to phytoplankton, which play a crucial role in producing 70% of the Earth’s oxygen and absorbing a large amount of carbon dioxide.

Plastic waste gets trapped in large rings in the ocean. Plastic debris absorbs toxins from marine pollution, which can also be absorbed by marine life when they ingest it.

These long-lived substances often end up in the stomachs of seabirds and animals. As a result, their digestive tract gets blocked. As a result, their appetite decreases or they may suffer from starvation. Apart from the main pollutants, there are many types of indirect effects.

If sediments are floating on the water’s surface, sunlight cannot reach the aquatic plants for photosynthesis. In cities in developed countries, municipal wastewater is specially treated by treatment plants.  More than 90 percent of pollutants can be removed by well-designed and managed systems.

Some factories have additional measures to remove chemicals and pathogens, but these more advanced treatment steps are becoming increasingly expensive.

Eco-based solutions are also being used instead of centralized treatment plants. Low-impact development technologies can also be used to control pollution. Installation of green roofs and improved and moderate use of chemicals can reduce water pollution rates.
