Illegal filling of Reservoirs at Hobigonj in Bangladesh endangers the Natural Environment
The leaders of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Habiganj branch visited the site of filling the reservoir adjacent to the bypass road in the Anwarpur-Noahati area of Habiganj district town, Bangladesh endangering the natural environment.
Recently, BAPA’s delegation went to a field inspection after receiving the information about the reservoir filling. After inquiring, they learned that some people were filling a large reservoir near the bypass road in Hobigonj.
The reservoir filling has been done by bringing sand through a thick pipe from a distant river through a dredger machine.
After the inspection, the BAPA delegation informed the Deputy Commissioner of Habiganj, the Municipal Mayor, the Deputy Director of the Environment Department, and the Executive Engineer of the Roads and Township Department over the phone.
