It's very Alarming! Florida is about to sink in 12 Gigatonnes ice melting water

The danger is approaching at present due to the rapid ice melt in Greenland. According to a survey by a University in Belgium, Greenland ice will melt so fast that it will inundate Florida by 2 inches of water. According to estimates, about 12 gigatonnes of ice can melt in a short period.

According to the estimation of surveyors, on July 28, 2021, alone, 22 gigatonnes of ice melted. For the first time, a record amount of ice melted at a time, after 2012 and 2019.

As so much ice has turned into water, temperatures in northern Greenland have risen. It reached 23.4°C from 20°C, which is almost double the average summer temperature.

“Earlier, almost 10 gigatonnes ice formed during the snowfall. For which, the melting rate did not have much effect,” said Xavier Fettweis, a climate scientist at the University of Liège  in Belgium.

There is no doubt that the polar region’s climate has drastically changed due to the effects of global warming.

However, how these changes occurring and what is happening is the subject of research by environmental scientists. According to that research, the warm air of the polar region is ideal for melting ice. Due to its effects, the amount of snow converting into liquid is enough to float Florida.

After Antarctica, Greenland is the island of the polar region that is permanently covered by snow. Besides, Greenland’s melting ice supplies 70℅ of the world’s freshwater.

According to environmental scientists, the ice here began to melt due to global warming in 1990. The current melting rate is four times higher than in 2000.

That is, there was a rapid ice melt in the last 20 years. If all the ice of Greenland melted, the sea level would rise by about 6 to 7 meters.
