Bangladesh; Magura: A bicycle rally has been held to raise public awareness to stop the hunting of migratory birds. Bicycle rallies were held to raise public awareness to stop migratory bird hunting.
A bicycle rally has been organized in Nahata union of Mohammadpur Upazila of Magura District under the slogan ‘Birds for life, take care of them’.
At noon on Friday, January 1, 2021, at the initiative of Nahata Union Development Society, Rally circled the various roads of Nahata Union Sadar. Shajahan Mia, secretary of the organization, presided over the inaugural session and Harekrishna Adhikari, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) spoke as the chief guest.
Officer-in-Charge (OC, Investigation) of Nahata Police Investigation Centre Burhan Uddin addressed the function as a special guest. Also, present on the occasion were members of the organization, members of the advisory council, lifetime members, and donor members.
Harekrishna Adhikari said, “We are working so that no one can hunt the creatures of nature and we are collecting the names of bird hunters.” Action will be taken against them at the end of the collection.
Shahjahan Mia, General Secretary, Nahata Union Development Society said, “Nahata has the largest Ichhamati bill in the Upazila. Every winter, a large number of migratory birds gather here.
Lots of birds are caught in the trap of one kind of hunter. Various public awareness measures have been taken including bicycle rallies to stop the hunting of migratory birds.
