Student Human Chain in Protest Against Environmental Pollution
Students of Uttara University organized a human chain in protest of the environmental pollution caused by the illegal occupation of the Turag River and unplanned sand trading.
On Tuesday, October 22, alongside the human chain near the Uttara University campus, they also conducted a cleanliness drive around the campus area.
The human chain was organized by the Social Service Club and the Environment Club of Uttara University, with sponsorship from the FDTT Alumni Association of Uttara University.
During the protest, students expressed their concerns that illegal sand trading near the campus is putting their health at risk and disrupting their studies. Despite multiple letters being sent regarding the issue, no action has been taken.
The Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University, Professor Dr. Yasmin Ara Lekha, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, along with Deans of various faculties and departmental heads, were present at the event.
