Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, Shahab Uddin, stated that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation (Bangladesh), had initiated several projects to provide the people of Bangladesh with a healthy, beautiful, pollution-free, and livable environment.

He even established the Pollution Control Program by enacting the Water Pollution Control Ordinance in 1973 for this objective. Anti-independence conspirators slew him in 1975; therefore, he was unable to fulfil his dream.

The Environment Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina‘s government is working tirelessly to achieve a pollution-free Bangladesh to achieve Bangabandhu’s dream.

On the occasion of Bangabandhu’s 46th martyrdom anniversary and ‘National day of Mourning,’ the environment minister remarked this while speaking at a virtual discussion gathering and an Islamic prayer ceremony on account of Bangabandhu and his families assassination day hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.

As a special guest, Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar spoke under the presidency of Mostafa Kamal, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change. Officials and employees from the ministry and its subordinate departments were involved in it online.

The Environment Minister expressed deep regret that he was working tirelessly to transform his beloved war-torn motherland into the golden Bengal of his dreams. On August 15 1975, in the dark of night, some misguided army members brutally murdered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and his family, including Bangamata Fazilatun Nesha Mujib, as part of an anti-independence conspiracy.

He went on to say that Bangabandhu envisioned a nation that would hold a dignified place among the world’s developed civilized nations in terms of prosperity and dignity.

If proper respect pays to the Father of the Nation, we can work together, a happy and prosperous Bangladesh will achieve. We will also achieve a free of hunger, poverty, communalism, terrorism, and militancy country by fulfilling the Father of the Nation’s dream, regardless of party, creed, religion, caste, or gender.

Following the discussion meeting, a prayer was held to seek forgiveness for Bangabandhu’s soul and the martyrs of August 15. The Environment Minister planted a tree sapling at the Forest Department before the discussion meeting in memory of the martyrs.
