the government has continued afforestation and forest conservation, restoration of degraded forests and sustainable forest management.

She said that from 2009-2010 to 2022-23 fiscal year, a total of 217402-hectare blocks and 30252 seedling km. Strip gardens have been created and 11.21 million saplings have been distributed and planted. This year, 8,3327000 saplings will be planted throughout the country during the monsoon season.

The secretary said that the national forest survey has been started this year to determine the amount of trees and the amount of carbon in forests across the country.

The green belt of Bangabandhu’s dream is being created along the coast through afforestation on the coast, embankments and polders of Bangladesh. From 2009 to 2023, about 89,853 hectares of coastal afforestation has been created.

From 2009 to 2023, TK.326,950,4114 has been distributed among 160,699 beneficiaries involved in social forestry, she said.
