Workshop on climate change at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh

A group of young students and researchers from Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) held a workshop and seminar on climate change. This workshop was held with the students of Abdul Motaleb High School of Hatia Upazila of Noakhali on February 08, 2024.

There were 200 students who participated in a workshop and seminar where they learned about climate change through lectures, discussions, and different activities. The theme of the workshop and seminar was, “Youth Campaign: Climate Change Literacy and Drinking Water Quality Monitoring.”

Saiful Islam, a student from the Oceanography department at NSTU, coordinated the project and played a leading role in the seminar.



Nazmus Saqib Khan, Chairman, Department of Marine Science, was present as the chief guest in the workshop. He presented the detailed unknown issues related to climate change and adaptation to the students of the said school.

ANM Hasan, Principal of Abdul Motaleb High School, led the event, and Mr. Abdul Haqi, Associate Professor at Hatia Degree College, was also there as a special guest. The speakers praised the organization of the workshops and seminars and want to plan more educational events like these in the future.

The event ended with NSTU students participating in different activities related to climate change, safe water verification and monitoring methods, and a quiz and prize distribution ceremony.

Saiful Islam, the coordinator of the project, said about the project – It may not be possible to completely prevent the world’s climate change, but we have to develop ourselves in such a way as to adapt to this change through the same technology and steps.

Through the seminar, the organizer train over 200 students in coastal Bangladesh to develop skills for addressing climate change’s impact on the environment and livelihoods.
