According to the UN Climate Change Panel, Greenhouse gas emissions need to reduce by 2025 to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius as per Paris Agreement.

To prevent the severe impact of climate change on the environment, the emission of this gas must reduce significantly.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published a report recently on various measures to tackle global warming. A working group has been meeting online since March 21 to discuss the latest research findings.

According to the report, global greenhouse gas emissions have increased recently. The emission reduction targets set by each state by 2030 are not sufficient to limit the rise in temperature to 1.5 degrees above the pre-industrial level i.e. levels before 1750.

The emission of greenhouse gases should start decreasing from 2025 onwards. It further said that concerning 2019, these emissions should reduce to 43 percent by 2030 and 84 percent by 2050.

The panel called for a major overhaul, especially in the energy sector, accounting for one-third of total emissions.

The panel called for a drastic reduction in fossil fuels, such as oil and coal, and an increase in renewable energy, such as solar and wind energy.

The panel also stated that renewable energy alone would not achieve this goal and called for alternative fuels such as hydrogen and energy-efficient methods.
