Environmental activist Greta Thunberg detained during street protests in the Netherlands
Greta Thunberg, a 21-year-old Swedish Environmental activist, was arrested in the Netherlands on April 6, 2024. She was arrested by the police during a protest action on the streets of The Hague, Netherlands. She was arrested twice by the police that day. British media BBC published the news.
Greta protested against fossil fuel subsidies in The Hague on April 6, 2024, with other environmental activists. Meanwhile, the important road blockade of The Hague was carried out ignoring the police barriers.
As a result, police arrested Greta twice. She was arrested for the first time and taken to the police station in a police van. A few hours after being released, she joined the agitation program again. After some time, this Swedish environmentalist was arrested again.
At just 15 years old, she started protesting outside Swedish to take immediate action on climate change. She began the climate movement by standing in front of the Swedish Parliament building, holding up playing cards that said “School Strike for Climate” in Swedish. Gradually, Swedish school-college students joined her in this movement.
It later became a symbol of the global environment and climate movement. In November 2018, she urged for a school boycott to fight climate change. The movement gained strength after the UN climate conference in December of the same year.
On March 15, 2019, around 14 million students from 112 countries worldwide joined the climate protest program.
Earlier, she was arrested by the police in other countries, including the Netherlands, while carrying out environmental activities.
Greta thinks that the world is facing a terrible disaster due to environmental pollution. Without action to prevent pollution, our planet will become uninhabitable for humans.
