Environment Minister, Bangladesh, wants global cooperation in sustainable waste management
Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), Bangladesh, called for increasing international cooperation and strong partnership to deal with the global waste crisis.
He emphasized that Bangladesh is dedicated to sustainable waste management practices and is continuously working to implement innovative solutions to promote the recycling of waste resources.
He mentioned this during a keynote speech at the UN’s event ‘Partnership for Addressing the Waste Crisis and Accelerating Circularity: A New Policy Support Initiative for Data and Action’.
The event took place at the United Nations General Assembly building in New York, focusing on waste management.
“We are excited to announce the launch of our new policy support platform and publication dedicated to waste management. The initiative helps UN Member States improve their waste management practices.
It focuses on data, technical expertise, capacity building, and financial pressures. The goal is to promote resource circularity in solid waste management through a life-cycle approach,” Saber Hossain added.
Besides, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Amina J Muhammad, Deputy Secretary General of United Nations; Achim Steiner, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP); Chun Kyo Park, Head of the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD), also individually had bilateral meetings.
