Bangladesh has placed four demands in the COP 27

Md. Shehab Uddin, Minister of the Ministry of Forest, Environment, and Climate change (MoEFCC), Bangladesh, informed in a conference held in Dhaka recently that Bangladesh had placed four demands in the UN Climate Change summit.

He informed of this in a press conference on ‘Expectations and Attainments in the climate change conference COP 27’ held at Dhaka on December 4, 2022.

“More than 110 countries’ presidents and/or Prime Ministers were present at the high-level segment held from 7- 8 November 2022,” said the Minister.

“I placed our country’s statement at the Resumed high-level Segment held on November 15-16, 2022,” he informed.

“We upheld our four demands in that statement and demanded to establish a supporting financial system to avoid, reduce, and protect against losses and damages.”

Informing that a decision was taken at the conference (COP 27) to form a new Climate fund for the most vulnerable developing countries to protect against their loss and damage, he said,

“A transitional committee was formed to make guidelines and procedures for the COP 28 to implement that fund.”

“What we got for loss and damage at COP 27 – is a good sign. They will help climate-vulnerable countries, including us, against their loss and damage.”
