Bangladesh has played a vital role on behalf of vulnerable countries in the Climate Conference: Environment Minister, Bangladesh

Md. Shahab Uddin, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has claimed that Bangladesh has played a vital role on behalf of highly endangered and vulnerable countries in the issue-based discussions at the World Climate Conference.

He said, “Bangladesh has requested developed countries to double adaptation financing for developing countries by 2025, finalize the definition of climate finance, and help implement national adaptation plans.”

He was speaking at a workshop titled ‘World Climate Conference (COP 27): Expectations and Achievements and Future Action Plan’ at the Department of Environment.

Shahab Uddin said, “In the ‘High-Level Segment’ of this year’s Climate Summit, the ‘Country Statement’ for Bangladesh aims to ensure the payment of US$100 billion per year until 2025 and ensure long-term climate financing.

A strong call has been made to achieve significant progress in the ‘New Collective Quantified Goals on Climate Finance’ negotiations.”

Pointing out that consensus has been reached on essential issues, including the ‘Sharm Al Sheikh Implementation Plan’ in the conference,

he said, ‘However, its successful implementation will depend on its proper implementation. We hope that the world’s industrialized countries will be more proactive in dealing with the harmful effects of climate change.”
