With the advancement of modern civilization, the vitality of the “Green Planet” is gradually eroding. Poison is circulating in the air because of unplanned industrialization. Therefore, this time, John Kerry, the special envoy of US President Joe Biden, is visiting India with a strong desire to protect the environment.

He will meet with top Indian government leaders and industrialists to discuss climate change mitigation. The special envoy from the United States will discuss various steps toward ‘clean energy,’ or pollution-free power generation.

Most developing countries, including India, rely on coal and crude oil for power generation or industrialization. As a result, pollution levels in these countries are incredibly high. However, to protect the environment, the emphasis is on developing wind and hydropower, including solar energy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden announced a joint Indo-US initiative to protect the climate by 2030 at the Climate Summit in April 2021. As part of that initiative, John Kerry formally launched the Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue during his visit.

Note that the world is gradually changing. The dangers of climate change are approaching. A recent United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) report raises concerns about children’s health, education, and safety in 33 countries.

India is on that list. Apart from India, there are three other countries from Asia. UNICEF compiled the list to monitor the risk of children from natural disasters such as climate change, cyclones, and heatwaves. India ranks 28th there. The other three Asian countries are Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, ranked 14, 15, and 25.
