Indonesia Floods Kill Thirty
Indonesia devastated by flash floods. At least 30 people have died. Hundreds of people were displaced by the floods on the country’s island of Sulawesi on 14 July 2020.
Mr. Yusuf Latif, a spokesman for the country’s rescue agency, said in a statement that 15 people were still missing.
The news agency Reuters reported that the water of rivers in the vicinity of the North Lou district in South Sulawesi province was flooded after heavy rains on 13 July 2020. More than 4,000 people have been affected by the floods.
Television footage showed that about half a hundred houses had been partially submerged and that heavy mud had accumulated on the roofs.
Incidentally, floods and landslides occur frequently in Indonesia. The flood situation deteriorated further, especially during the monsoon season.
