New initiatives to protect wildlife In Bangladesh, informer will receive a reward of Taka 50,000

Bangladesh News: Recently, the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change have taken new initiatives to protect wildlife. In this case, the informer will be rewarded if the information on wildlife trafficking or killing is provided to the Ministry.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests has issued ‘Wildlife Crime Disclosure (Information Provider) Rewards Rules, 2020’. In this case, the highest reward for providing information will be Taka 50 thousand (Taka 85 nearly equal to $1).
According to the rules, a reward will be given to the information provider who catches a person involved in a crime or a person, including a wild animal inside and outside the forest.
In the case of tigers, the information provider will receive a reward of Taka 50,000 about the information of a person involved in the crime or anyone carrying the tiger inside the forest. For the information outside the forest, he will get Taka 25,000.
In crocodiles and elephants, the information provider will reward taka 30,000, including the accused and animals inside the forest, and Taka 15,000 outside the forest, including the accused and animals.
In the case of deer, Taka 20,000 has been mentioned for providing information on crime detection inside the forest and Taka 10,000 outside the forest. In giving information about a tortoise or snake, a reward of Taka 15,000 and Taka 10,000 has been mentioned.
In birds and other wildlife, Taka 10,000 will be provided for information on crime detection inside the forest and Taka 10,000 for information outside the forest.
According to the rules, a five-member committee headed by the Chief Forest Conservator will be formed to give the award. The committee will decide after reviewing the list prepared for the financial award. The committee will also determine the number of financial rewards.
However, if the information on a wildlife crime is previously disclosed, the information provider himself is involved in the crime if any information is provided anonymously. If there is any other valid reason, the person providing the information will not be considered eligible for financial reward.
