No construction work will allow that polluting the environment – Mayor, Dhaka North City Corporation

Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), said, no construction work can do by polluting the environment and causing suffering to the people.

The DNCC mayor said this while speaking as a chairperson at a view-exchange meeting with the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) at his office compound regarding waste management, Cleanliness and mosquito control, and maintenance and illegal occupation of the canal.

He said, while constructing a building, permission must be obtained, and a certain amount of fees need to be paid for placing construction materials in a place of DNCC. A guideline regarding this will soon formulate.



 Atiqul Islam said the guideline committee would be consist of five members. Three members from DNCC and two members from REHAB. Due to the negligence of the housing companies, leftovers of various construction materials accumulate in the street and drains, causes suffering to the people along with polluting the environment.

He added, “Construction of buildings by non-compliance of laws causes’ environment pollution, including creating a breeding ground for Aedes.” An effective septic tank is needed in every house for waste management.

Senior officials, including Md. Selim Reza, CEO of DNCC, and Alamgir Shamsul Alamin Kajal, President of REHAB were present at the meeting.
