United Nations congratulated the minister of Environment, Bangladesh
Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), congratulated Md. Shahab Uddin, the Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change in Bangladesh.
The UNFCCC congratulated him for fulfilling the commitment of the Paris Agreement by submitting the update of the Nationally determined contribution (NDC) of Bangladesh regarding reducing greenhouse gas emissions to tackle climate change on time under his leadership.
In his congratulatory letter, the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC stated that Bangladesh’s timely submission of its NDC amid an ongoing global crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic is unquestionably commendable. He praised Bangladesh for making a significant commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and raising targets in various fields.
She specifically mentioned the implementation of climate change mitigation measures and improved adaptation issues in the NDC of Bangladesh.
She thanked Md Shahab Uddin, the Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change in Bangladesh for successfully leading Bangladesh’s visionary strategic plans and sustainable activities to prevent climate change under the Paris Agreement on Bangladesh’s NDC.
In her congratulatory letter, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa assured Bangladesh of increased cooperation in all future climate change activities to ensure the full implementation of the Paris Agreement and the success of the upcoming Climate Conference.
