From COP 27 conference, we will return to our respective countries with high hopes: Information Minister Bangladesh
Hasan Mahmud, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Bangladesh, said, “Till now, no visible progress has come out in terms of the commitment of developed countries to protect the world from the impacts of climate change and international technology cooperation. ”
However, the information minister found the participation of world leaders in the conference promising.
The conference COP 27 started on November 7, 2022, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The conference will continue till November 18, 2022.
About 100 government and state heads are participating in the conference. As the Prime Minister’s representative, Hasan Mahmood attended the ‘High-Level Event on Climate Action’ session and said these things.
Hasan Mahmud further said, “In this year’s conference, the heads of state and governments of many countries are participating, which has last seen in Paris and Copenhagen.
But not at the last few climate conferences. This is hopeful because when heads of state and government participate, they hear about the global community, environmentalists, and those who suffer the most from climate change like us.
We return to our respective countries with much hope from every COP 27 conference. However, the words of hope that are voiced need to be revised in the following year. This time, the Russia-Ukraine war has been added to it.
”For a long time, much discussion has been about the damage caused by climate change and renewable energy. Nevertheless, the $1 billion annual climate fund that supposes to give has remained a hope.
Besides, one of our demands was technology transfer. That is, to provide technology to countries that need the necessary technology in this field. There is also little progress in this regard.
