Many Hospitals in Bangladesh haven’t medical waste management
There is no medical waste management at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, as many renowned hospitals don’t pay any attention to its waste management.
There have been allegations of dumping harmful and germinal waste in the Hospital. Various infectious diseases are spreading along with environmental pollution.
The Department of Environment, Bangladesh, said that even though letters were sent to every Hospital to ensure waste management, no initiative has been taken.
In this situation, the people concerned fear that the medical waste of those hospitals will spread pathogens and cause environmental damage.
Those hospitals’ open spaces are dumped waste on the ground where various medical wastes are dumped. Birds, dogs, and cats often spread these wastes around and cause environmental pollution.
