Effective steps will be taken to control pollution to protect the environment: Environmental Advisor, Bangladesh

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor of the Bangladesh Interim Government, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change MOEFCC), Bangladesh, said that the MOEFCC, Bangladesh, will be made into a more people-friendly ministry. An example will be created by taking effective measures to control various types of pollution.

The adviser said these things in a meeting held today (August 15, 2024) with the officials of the MOEFCC, Bangladesh, at the ministry’s conference room.

She said that the action plan will be accepted and implemented in line with the current public expectations, while maintaining the mandated activities of the MOEFCC, Bangladesh.

“We will prioritize implementing measures to prevent the use of polythene and single-use plastics, control air pollution, reduce noise pollution from car horns, prevent river pollution, improve waste management, protect mountains, preserve forests, and prevent water bodies from getting filled up. We will also ensure the implementation of high court orders,” she added.



Syeda Rizwana Hasan stated that her Ministry will actively engage with international and national organizations, civil society, media, private sector, academics, professionals, and other stakeholders to promote collaboration at national and departmental levels.

She said that initiatives will be taken to speed up the grievance redressal process of this ministry and the departments under it.

National Environment Committee meetings will be convened regularly to take important decisions on environmental protection.

The website will be regularly updated to ensure transparency and accountability as per public expectations.

The adviser also said that opportunities will be created for student representatives to participate in the activities of the ministry.

Motivational activities will be implemented to increase the mobility of the officials and employees of ministries and subordinate offices.
