To combat environmental pollution, Bangladesh has announced ten guidelines for its offices
Bangladesh’s Department of Internal Resources has issued 10 guidelines for using alternatives to single-use plastics in the National Board of Revenue office to help reduce environmental pollution.
Plastic pollution, particularly from single-use products, is a significant threat to the environment and public health.
To reduce environmental pollution from single-use plastics, the advisor to the Ministry of Environment has requested the use of alternative products in a semi-official letter.
The instructions are:
- Using files and folders made of paper or other environmentally friendly materials instead of plastic files and folders.
- Use cotton or jute fabric bags instead of plastic bags.
- Use glass bottles and glasses instead of plastic water bottles.
- Use banners made of cotton or jute fabric or biodegradable material instead of plastic banners.
- Avoid plastic laminated invitations, visiting cards and various types of brochures.
- Ensuring that the food packets provided in various meetings or seminars are made of paper and eco-friendly.
- Avoid all types of products, including single-use plastic plates, glasses, cups, cutlery.
- Use of pencils or paper pens instead of plastic pens.
- Avoiding the use of laminated wrapping and plastic in all types of publications, including annual reports.
- Stop using plastic in flower bouquets
