About 323 kg Plastic Waste was removed from Kuakata beach, Bangladesh
There were 323 kg of waste was removed in a day-long drive on November 27. The waste collected from the 6 km stretch of Kuakata Beach
included food wrappers, plastic bags, single-use plastics, bottles, cigarette packs, fishing nets, cosmetics, and electronic waste.
The Department of Environment, Bangladesh, has launched a cleanliness and awareness campaign in several locations in the Barisal division, including Kuakata sea beach.
Ashiqur Rahman Sami of the Ministry of Environment, Bangladeh, Mohammad Asaduzzaman of the Patuakhali Department of Environment, Bangladesh, and students of Dhaka University and CEGIS participated in the cleanliness drive.
Dr. Abdul Hamid, Director General of the Department of Environment in Bangladesh, stated that tourist ignorance is causing beach pollution. Necessary measures will be taken in this regard.
To involve students and the public in the campaign, awareness programs were organized at Barishal District School, Barisal Sadar Girls, Chand Pasha High School Babuganj, Karapur Dakhil Mahila Madrasa, Patuakhali Government Jubilee High School, Barishal University, various schools and madrasas around Kuakata, and various markets in Barisal, Barguna, and Patuakhali.
