A smuggler with deer meat arrested from the Sundarbans
Police have arrested a smuggler while bringing meat of hunted deer in sacks from Chandpai Range in the East Sundarbans Division of Bagerhat.
The smuggler Bachchu Hawladar (40), was arrested St. Paul’s School in Mongla after midnight on September 2020.
Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mongla Police Station said, Bachchu Hawladar is a well-known smuggler in the Kumarkhali area of Mongla municipal town.
Earlier in the evening, he had entered the Chandpai Range forest in the eastern Sundarbans division of Bagerhat illegally to hunt deer. Police patrols intensified at night based on the news. Police arrested Bachchu Hawladar outside St. Paul’s School on his way to Mongla town with deer meat in a sack around 12:30 am.
10 kg of deer meat was found in the sack. On Saturday morning, Bacchu was sent to Bagerhat court.
