Embankment Construction and prevent River Erosion work to be Continued – AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Deputy Minister, WR, Bangladesh

Due to floods, many croplands including many fish farms of the country are destroyed every year. Thousands of hectares of crops are being submerged due to damage of flood protection embankment by the cause of river erosion.
Many fish farmers are facing huge losses and peoples are being experienced suffering also. Thousands of people are also living in waterlogged conditions.
Earlier this year, Deputy Minister of Water Resources of Bangladesh AKM Enamul Haque Shamim directed to continue to work to prevent river erosion (Embankment).
He directed to continue the construction of dams and rehabilitation of dams in high risks areas identified for river erosion across the country in preparation for the upcoming monsoon.
He said this while inspecting the progress of conservation work on the riverbank of Naria in Shariatpur, Bangladesh on Wednesday (April 29, 2020) morning.
