Farmers can play a pivotal role in protecting the environment: Environment minister Bangladesh
Md. Shahab Uddin, Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Bangladesh, said, “Farmers have to play a leading role in the overall environment development by protecting the hills and forests of the country.
To deal with the negative effects of climate change, they have to come forward to conserve canals, rivers, and other water bodies. We need to plant many trees to make the country’s environment livable.”
He spoke as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of distributing free Aus paddy seeds and chemical fertilizers among small and marginal farmers under the Aus incentive program in Kharif-1 season of 2021-22 in Baralekha and Juri Upazilas of Moulvibazar and distribution of agricultural machinery at a subsidized price under development assistance.
The Environment Minister said, “The present government is working according to the plan to make the country a developed country by 2041.
The overall development and progress of the country depend on the development of agriculture. The government will continue to provide all the necessary supplies to the farmers, including fertilizers, high-quality seeds, and modern agricultural inputs.
On occasion, 5 kg Aus paddy seeds, 20 kg DAP fertilizer, and 10 kg MOP fertilizer have been distributed to 3,600 farmers of Baralekha and Juri Upazilas farmers.
In addition, nine combine harvesters, four power threshers, and two reapers have been offered at subsidized rates.”
