Greta Thunberg’s protest against the climate conference

Greta Thunberg, the Swedish environmentalist, has opposed the hosting of the UN annual climate conference in Azerbaijan. For this reason, he participated in a protest march in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia on November 7.

Greta Thunberg, 21, and other environmental activists believe Azerbaijan should not host the climate conference due to its repressive policies.

The UN climate conference COP-29 began on November 11 in Baku, Azerbaijan, a major oil-producing nation.

Thunberg claimed that Azerbaijan is an oppressive and occupying regime. The country has carried out a campaign of ethnic cleansing. Civil society continues to be suppressed.

Thunberg claims that the Campian Sea country is using the climate conference to conceal its crimes and human rights abuses.

Azerbaijan is committed to implementing clean energy projects. But critics say the country is talking about it to export more fuel oil and gas.

President Ilham Aliyev has been in power in Azerbaijan since 2003. Before that, his father Heydar Aliyev was the president of Azerbaijan for a decade.

After the death of his father, Ilham came to power. There are serious allegations against him of intolerance of dissent and suppression of free speech
