Not only the planets but also the asteroids have moons too – informed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The Asteroid Eurybates has a moon.
The asteroid that is situated between Mars and the Jupiter at the asteroid belt, has a moon. The Lucy Mission of NASA informed that it has identified after analyzing all the images sent by the Hubble space telescope Wide-field camera-3 in September 2018 and December 2019 and this month that the Eurybates has a moon.
It is known that a spacecraft will reach the asteroid belt for the first time after seven years. NASA’s spacecraft Lucy will reach six more asteroids that are dispersed in that region.
On October 2021, Lucy will start its voyage to the Eurybates. The Principal Investigator of the Lucy mission of NASA & Professor Astrologer of Southwest Research Institute Haal Levison informed,
“The brightness of this newly discovered moon is six thousand times less than that of the asteroid Eurybates”. So, it is understood that the moon is very small in size and its diameter can be 1 kilometer at the most. And if that is the case, then we would say that the Eurybates is the smallest of the asteroids we have reached so far.
In 2018, NASA’s Hubble space telescope first discovered the Eurybates but at that time the Astrologers could not think that it had a moon.
Last November after analyzing the data sent by the Hubble telescope there grew a doubt among the scientists for the first time. And that suspicion has become true after NASA’s Lucy mission.
