The UK goes coal-free for the first time in 130 years

Historical milestone in renewable energy

The country that once started the Industrial Revolution by burning coal has reached a historic milestone in protecting the environment. The country recently closed its last coal-fired power plant forever. News: EarthScience.

Clean energy triumph:

Reducing carbon emissions: Even a decade ago, about 40% of the UK’s electricity came from coal. Now it has dropped to zero.

The rise of wind and solar power: Offshore wind farms and solar panels have filled the coal vacuum.

The UK is the first of the G-7 countries to say goodbye to coal power completely. This proves that with political will, it is possible to enter an era of 100% clean energy, overcoming centuries of dependence on fossil fuels.
