Thirty million saplings so far planted in Bangladesh in 2021: The prime minister of Bangladesh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has informed world leaders that Bangladesh has planted 30 million saplings in 2021 and will launch the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan ‘ in the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

She remarks while addressing a leaders meeting titled “Action and Solidarity – Critical Decade” at the Cop-26 event in Glasgow.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh has recently introduced an ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

“Bangladesh has also drafted a national adaptation plan with significant expansion of its adaptation initiatives,” she added.

“Global adaptation activities not getting implemented due to lack of money and strong political will,” the PM continued.

According to the PM, “Developed countries must meet their 100 billion annual climate financing commitments, including their 50:50 allocation for adaptation and mitigation.”



“The developed countries need to show support and assistance towards the climate-vulnerable countries.” the PM of Bangladesh further added.

Boris Johnson, The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and Mario Draghi, the Prime Minister of Italy, jointly organized the meeting.

As a President of CVF (Climate Vulnerable Forum) and host of the South Asia Office of the Global Center on Adaptation, Sheik Hasina said that “Bangladesh is developing adaptation under local leadership in different countries of the world.”
