Use of block bricks should be increased to prevent environmental damage: said Environment Minister, Bangladesh
Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of using block bricks instead of burnt bricks to prevent environmental damage. The government will take all necessary measures to remove obstacles to the use of block bricks.
He mentioned these points in the chair’s speech during a meeting with all stakeholders to address the challenge of using concrete blocks instead of clay bricks in the ministry’s meeting room.
He stated that the government has stated that they will offer training and financial assistance for individuals interested in brickmaking. It should be ensured that different banks come forward to give loans.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of the Ministry MOEFCC, Bangladesh. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of Public Works Ministry, Kazi Washiuddin, Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, Kamrul Hasan, chairman of Rajuk, Anishur Rahman, Secretary of Road Transport and Highway Department, ABM Amin Uddin Noori, Director General of the Department of Environment, Dr. Abdul Hamid, Additional Secretary of the Ministry (Environmental Pollution Control), Fahmida Khanam and among others present at the meeting.
Government officials of various relevant ministries and organizations, and representatives of the Block Brick Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh, were also present in the meeting. During this time various important decisions were taken by discussing the challenges.
