Climate change adverse effects on Poor

Scientists opinions are that climate change is affecting the cultivation of crops and the nutritional value of food. Although the production of fruits and vegetables in the courtyard of the houses is considered to be environmentally friendly, it is also thought to be a weapon in the fight against climate change.

This is exactly the experience of the residents of an area of Bangladesh, when their main crop of food and income, the paddy got damaged in the monsoon rains.

Due to the early heavy rains in April 2017, all the paddy fields of the farmers of the Sylhet division of Bangladesh got damaged. But that year it was supposed to start raining two more months later. For the rest of the year, they had no income, not enough food for the family.

These people have no role in climate change, but they are still victims, said Sabine Gabrysch, a professor of climate and health department at the Charites University at medicine in Berlin and a researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.

At a conference on health and climate organized by the Nobel Foundation, he said, They are suffering differently from climate change because they are losing their livelihoods and sources of nutrition. Their children are suffering the most because they need more nutrients because they are growing faster.

Even onethird of women are found to be underweight, and 40 percent of children are severely malnourished. A lot of people actually survive in this, they suffer from many kinds of diseases, says Professor Gabrysch. ”They have no insurance.”

He is leading a study on the impact of floods in the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. He is working with more than 2,000 women from different villages in the area. More than half of these women said that their families were seriously harmed by the floods.

What most families have done to prevent such losses is to borrow money from others. Especially from people who lend money at highinterest rates. The family got caught in a debt trap by bringing money from them.

The research team of Gabrysch taught these people gardening on the high ground of their home courtyard. In these places, they are able to grow fruits and vegetables rich in nutrients and rear chickens.

Professor Gabrysch said, I do not think this is compensating for the loss of rice because it is the main crop of their livelihood.” But it is helping them at least. ”

Professor Kristie Ebi of the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington has studied nutrition. He said the amount of carbon dioxide is increasing in foods like rice, wheat, potatoes, and Sabu. This means that they require less water to grow. It sounds positive but its not the matter. Because these crops are pulling fewer nutrients from the soil.

In the rice that Professor Ebi’s research team studied, vitamin B has been reduced by 30 percent. It also makes the amount of necessary folic acid less than normal for pregnant women.

Increasing the warming of the world means that the incidence of the disease is also increasing. “There is a high risk of developing an outbreak of mosquitoborne disease,he said. In addition, the incidence of diarrhea and infectious disease is increasing.

As our world gets warmer, the spread of the disease is increasing, these diseases have been there for a long time. The prevalence of these diseases is increasing. In many cases, children are the primary victims of these diseases. This is why we are more concerned about the health of mothers and children because they are at the front row of risk. The impact of these changes has had a profound impact on them.”

The diseases that were commonly seen in tropical areas are now spreading to the north. For the first time this year, West Nile virus patients have been seen in Germany, which is a mosquitoborne disease. “With the spread of these infectious diseases, people are beginning to realize that climate change is starting to come upon us,said Gabrysch.

Nobel winner Peter Agger says climate change is spreading disease. In all such areas, there is such disease that has not been seen before and the disease is spreading in new areas. Some of the diseases seen in South America and Africa have also started to appear in the higher areas. This is important because people in tropical areas usually live in high altitudes to protect themselves from the disease.
