Olive Ridley Turtles occupied the Rushikulya Sea of Odisha, India
Rushikulya beach in Odisha, India used to be always crowded by tourists. Now, people are not coming out of the house in fear of coronavirus. Now, it is seen that the sea is covered by turtles. The turtles have occupied the beach as tourists. The turtles seem to have taken advantage of the lockdown worldwide.
The question is why did the turtles come to the beach at that time? Turtles have come to breed by hatching eggs. These millions of turtles are now busy choosing a place to hatch eggs and do their job there.
According to a report by the Indian Forest Department, more than 0.7 million Olive Ridley Turtles have reached the nest in Odisha’s Rushikulya Sea. According to statistics provided by the Indian Forest Department, this year, 60 million eggs will be hatched. Every year in March, the turtles of this species come to the Rushikulya and Gahirmatha beaches.
