Again, a dead body of Dolphin with head-injured floated at the Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach

A sizeable dead dolphin was seen again on the beach in Cox’s Bazar of a length of 11 feet. The dead Dolphin was seen floating beside the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road at Shafi’s Bill area in Ukhia Upazila, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

On Tuesday (May 12) afternoon, the Cox’s Bazar Environment Department’s Facebook page has Published news with an awareness that ‘Let’s be aware’; Once again, a vast dead dolphin floated on the beach.

This time the Dolphin floated on the beach is 11 feet long. Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf beach ECA area. This dead body of Dolphin was seen on the north side of Shafi’s Bill Cyclone Center.

Mr. Badrul Alam, a biodiversity conservation worker of the “Strengthening and Consolidation of CBA-ECA Project” implementation under the Department of Environment under Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change Ministry of Bangladesh was found the Dolphin lying on the beach.

Md. Badrul Alam’s idea is that while fishing in the sea, the Dolphin was stuck in the fishermen’s net, and then wounded and caused injured on its head to death. Badrul Alam, with the help of other project workers, dug a hole in the ground and buried the dead Dolphin.

Moazzem Hossain, founder, and chairman of “Save the Nature of Bangladesh” said that the forest department, the environment department, the district fisheries department, and the Cox’s Bazar development authority have not yet taken any active steps to protect dolphins in the sea.

As a result of which this innocent animal dolphin of the sea is getting trapped in the fishermen’s net again and again and continuously dying. Because the dead dolphins are floating, there are signs of injuries on their body. It is either a sign of damage or a trap injury.

Due to no awareness program executing among the fishermen or any action against the killing of Dolphin not yet taken, this type of occurrence is going on repeatedly. In this regard, the self-governing department has to play an active role in protecting the dolphins of the sea.

Here, it to be mentioned that on March 23, 2020, two schools of dolphins were seen at the Kalatali point of Cox’s Bazar beach. And there was a total of 20-25 dolphins. However, in the last two months, 12 dolphins have died in fishermen’s nets.
