Bangladesh has taken a nationwide campaign to combat noise pollution
The Environment Department of Bangladesh has collected Tk 38,48,500 in fines from 26 cases related to pollution in just a few days.
On January 25, the Department of Environment in Bangladesh launched a nationwide campaign with 10 mobile courts to combat air pollution, ban polythene, prevent the filling of water bodies, and reduce noise pollution.
Among them, 4 mobile courts operating in Rangpur, Bandarban, Jhenaidah and Amin Bazar of Dhaka district against air polluting brick kilns collected Tk 38,000 in 13 cases, destroyed raw bricks of 5 kilns, evicted 1 brick kiln and demolished 3 kilns.
A mobile court operating in Kazipara, Dhaka against urban air pollution collected Tk 5,000 in 1 case and warned 4 institutions.
Against banned polythene, 2 mobile courts were conducted in Magura and Chuadanga, and a fine of Tk.9,000 was collected through 7 cases, 114 kg of polythene was seized and the concerned were warned.
In Feni district, a mobile court addressed water body filling issues. It fined Tk. 30,000 in one case and ordered the restoration of the pond.
Against noise pollution, 1 mobile court was conducted in Shahbagh area of Dhaka, and 4 vehicles were fined 4 and a driver was warned.
