‘’Bangladesh seeks financial and technical assistance from developed countries to address the effects of climate change.’’

AK Abdul Momen, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, remarks while addressing an international conference titled ” Stockholm+50” held in Stockholm, Sweden, on June 5, 2022.



Speaking at the plenary session of the meeting, the foreign ministry said, “Stockholm +50 provides an opportunity to rethink the position of the world community in building a stable, healthy, and prosperous world for all.”

Abdul Momen discussed the various other initiatives and measures the Bangladesh government took to save the world, including the “Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan ” and the ” The Planetary Emergency Plan.”

At the call of the United Nations and with the support of the Kenyan government, Sweden hosted the 50th Stockholm Summit.

The high-level meeting was to mark the 50th anniversary of global environmental action.

About 150 members of the United Nations, representatives of various specialized agencies, The Planetary Emergency Plan (IGOs)​​, and International Financial institutions (IFIs) have attended the meeting.

In addition to the Stockholm +50 meeting, Bangladesh’s foreign minister attended an inter-generational roundtable to understand better, think for, and act on future generations.



He also held bilateral meetings with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner praised Bangladesh’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and its leadership in global climate action during the meeting.
