Md Shahab Uddin, Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MOEFCC), Bangladesh, said,” The government commits to providing a pollution-free environment. “

Meanwhile, the Minister gave strict instructions to the officials of the Department of Environment (DOE), Bangladesh, to work responsibly. He also sought the cooperation of the people for this.

He said this while addressing a meeting as the chief guest at the auditorium of the environment department on June 21, 2022.



Dr. Abdul Hamid, Director General of the DOE, has presided over the meeting. Professor Pran Gopal Dutt, Former Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Abul Kalam Azad, Distinguished Fellow of Global Center on Adaptation, and Dr. Kazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmed, Chairman of Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), was the special guest on the event.

The environment minister said, “Monitoring and enforcement activities had intensified to ensure environmental protection by reducing water pollution, air pollution, soil pollution, and noise pollution.

It implements by formulating guidelines to prevent air pollution. Initiatives to increase eco-friendly block bricks instead of burnt bricks are underway. Furthermore, to control noise pollution, an integrated project has also been implemented.”



“Bangladesh government already adopted a 10-year action plan for managing plastic waste across the country, and also adopted a three-year unique program to stop the use of disposable plastics in coastal areas,” he continued.

“Our government had taken legal action to protect the environment against those who cut down hills and mounts. And to control e-waste and medical waste enacted the laws,” the Minister added.

“The concerned authorities have strictly instructed to set up liquid waste treatment systems and implement zero discharge plans for liquid waste emitting industries. Trees are being planted on a large scale across the country to maintain the balance of the environment,” he continued.
