Today Dhaka tops the list of cities with polluted air

The capital Dhaka tops today among the most polluted cities in the world. Today, Sunday (October 18, 2020) at 10:24 am, the score in the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Dhaka was 188, which indicates air quality is ‘unhealthy.’

A report by the World Bank and the Department of the Environment has identified the brick kilns around Dhaka as the leading cause of air pollution. Although the uncontrolled dust of construction works and vehicle smoke has also reached the level of pollution in the capital’s final stage.

Meanwhile, Lahore in Pakistan and Delhi in India are ranked second and third respectively in the list of cities with polluted air. In the AQI index, Lahore and Delhi scored 178 and 176, respectively.

The AQI index informs people about how clean or polluted the air in a particular city is and what kind of health risks may arise for them.
