A woman claimed responsibility and sent to Jail for killing the monkeys in Madaripur, Bangladesh

A woman named Shahana Begum confessed to the cop who killed the monkeys by applying poison to their food. On the first day of the poisoning, 12 monkeys died, and four were on the following day.

The total death enrolled in sixteen in the Charmugaria area of Madaripur Sadar district. Shahana Begum is the wife of Hawaladar of the Upazilla. Police said Shahana Begum arrested after confessing in the interrogation. Her brother in law also detained at the same time, but he was released as he was not guilty.

Police sent Shahana Begum to Jail on Sunday (May 10, 2020) afternoon. She was arrested from Madhya Khagdi area of Madaripur Sadar Upazila late on Saturday night.



The Forest Department filed a case at the Madaripur Sadar Police Station in connection with the killing of the monkeys. The DC of Madaripur also formed a four-member investigation committee. According to Shahana Begum’s confession, the monkeys killed by applying poison.

But it is not yet known what type of poison used for killing the monkeys. However, the postmortem report will reveal what kind of poison was applied. It may be mentioned that on May 6 afternoon, some monkeys have seen with poisonous saliva in the mouth, and some were found dead.

Several monkeys were seen groaning under the influence of poison. Twelve monkeys died on the evening of May 6 and four more in the morning of May 7, due to the poison. Later the locals collected the monkeys and buried them.
