Bangladesh Environment Minister announced to work in the field for climate refugees
Md. Shahab Uddin, Minister of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), said, “We will take all necessary steps to enable the Climate Change Trust to function independently, including amending the law, setting up field offices, and recruiting adequate manpower.”
“Steps will be taken to build houses and shelters for climate refugees,” he said.
,On May 17, 2022, he made the remarks at an exchange meeting with Bangladesh Climate Change Trust officials at the old forest building in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
The forest minister said that the government would take steps to build more houses for the homeless in the future due to climate change.
“The current government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working hard to address the various risks posed by climate change.
With the assistance of the Climate Change Trust Fund, the first country globally, 600 projects have been undertaken at the cost of Tk 3,600 crore. These programs have benefited over 30 million people in coastal areas alone,” the minister informed.
“It will take all necessary steps to enable the Climate Change Trust to operate independently, including amending the law, setting up offices in the field, and recruiting adequate manpower,” he assured.
During the meeting, the minister also ordered that the Cyclone Shelter Cum Primary School will have to build on a four-story foundation and that a lightning forecasting system be installed throughout the country.
Previously, he went to a photo exhibition of various actions carried out with the help of the Climate Change Trust Fund, and he gave instructions to those concerned about multiple issues.
