Bangladesh’s Ministry of Environment urges proper disposal of sacrificial animal waste during Eid-ul-Adha for the sac of environment

The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Bangladesh, has called upon the concerned to properly clean the blood and waste of sacrificial animals and dispose of them in designated places during the upcoming Eid-UL-Adha, in order to protect the environment and public health.

It has been requested not to slaughter animals here and there and to ensure personal safety during the sacrifice process.

During the inter-ministerial meeting held at the Ministry of Bangladesh Secretariat, they discussed ways to prevent environmental pollution caused by the remains of sacrificed animals during the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha on May 23, 2023.

The meeting mentioned that everyone should need to keep the leftover parts from the sacrificed animals in the pits to prevent polluting the environment.

Use of eco-friendly bags or containers for disposal of sacrificial waste or distribution of sacrificial meat is called for. The Ministry of Environment expects that people will fulfil their religious and moral responsibilities by ensuring a healthy environment.



Various government initiatives have been taken to create public awareness about environmentally friendly disposal of sacrificial animal waste. For this purpose, leaflets are being distributed nationwide.

The Directorate of Mass Communication is currently showcasing public awareness documentaries at Hat Bazaar and other open spaces.

Publish awareness notices in newspapers and send SMS through mobile phone operators to motivate the public. The secretary of the ministry informed that the Imams have been requested by the Islamic Foundation to mention this issue in Friday’s Jummah Pryer  and Eid prayer sermons before Eid.
