The discarded plastic packaging of international brands of coffee creamers, biscuits, and laundry detergents raises environmental concerns. Low-income consumers usually buy packets of small sash more in developing countries; thus, their discard significantly impacts the environment.

The Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO)) launched a mobile campaign to ban all types of one-time plastic products, raising awareness about the harmful effects of the disposable plastic sash on the environment and encouraging people to stop using it.

The campaign started at Dhaka University’s TSC on 14th June morning. The four members and two volunteers collected public support and signatures for the ESDO team. The campaign started from TSC, passed through Motijheel, Gulshan Lake, and Sangsad Bhaban, and ended at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi around 5 pm.

Many have expressed support for this initiative and expressed concern about plastic waste. They also suggest finding alternatives to the sash.

The campaign called on the government to pass laws banning single-use plastics such as sash, straw, cutlery, and bottles and encourage product redesign.
