Record rises in ocean temperatures due to climate change

Rises in ocean temperatures have broken all previous records due to climate change. Climate Change Service of the European Union-

According to Copernicus, the average ocean temperature reached 20.96 degrees Celsius this year, higher than at any other time.

According to scientists, hot water has less capacity to absorb carbon dioxide. As a result, the environment’s temperature has increased, and the food chain has been threatened.

Copernicus, the European Union’s climate change agency, has conducted a study on the temperature of the 2,000-meter surface of the oceans.

The research report revealed alarming information. According to reports, the sea temperature has recently been at least 3 to 5 degrees Celsius higher than average.

This year, the oceans have broken the 2016 temperature record. At that time, the average temperature of the oceans was 20.9 degrees Celsius.

According to data from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, ocean heat waves have doubled in 2016 compared to 1982. And the experts fear that the sea temperature will increase due to the change in the future airflow direction.

These oceans absorb 90 percent of greenhouse gases from nature and supply 50 percent of Earth’s oxygen. However, scientists are worried about the rising temperature of the oceans.

According to them, as these large reservoirs warm, carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas absorption will decrease.

Also, oxygen production will decrease because the algae on the seabed will die. As a result, the presence of various gases that inhibit heat radiation will increase and lead the global temperature to intolerable levels.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that predators such as sharks will become more aggressive as the oceans warm. Due to this, the sea’s food chain and ecology will be disturbed.
