Sandstorms pollute Beijing’s environment

Sandstorms pollute Beijing’s environment.

Sandstorms have been blowing in China’s capital Beijing for several days. The country’s meteorologists have predicted that this sandstorm may blow to several other provinces outside Beijing. They also warned that the citizens who went out of the house at this time may suffer from breathing problems.

Air pollution in Beijing has worsened over the past few weeks. Unseasonal sandstorms are seen almost every day.

Meteorologists say a blue weather warning has been issued for the sandstorm. There are four types of weather warnings issued in China. A red notice is given for the worst weather and a blue alert for less severe.

The Beijing Municipal Ecological and Environmental Monitoring Center reported that smog and gray clouds covered Beijing’s skies last week. It indicates severe pollution on the Air Pollution Index.

According to IQAir, the concentration of fine particles in Beijing’s air is 46.2 times higher than the World Health Organization’s annual air quality guidelines. This Switzerland-based organization works on air pollution.

Meanwhile, the Beijing Meteorological Observatory said that at least 12 provinces, including Shaanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, and Shanghai, could experience sandstorms until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow Wednesday.

An official from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment said sandstorms have increased due to rising temperatures and reduced rainfall in the deserts of northern China and neighboring Mongolia. There are four times more sandstorms now than in 1960.
