Heavy rains have inundated the Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Centre and surrounding areas in the Chandpai Range, one of the Sundarbans’ highest tourist spots. As a result, the Sundarbans are the home to wildlife; Deer, crocodiles, and endangered species of Batargul Bachka tortoises face losses at the breeding center.

The water inside the Sundarbans has increased so much; From which multiple forts of high ground for laying crocodile eggs could not remain safe. Before the baby hatches from the crocodile’s egg, the tanks of Karamjal Breeding Centre have submerged in tidal water. Inside the Sundarbans, crocodile-laying earthen forts have sunk, raising uncertainties about the growth of babies.

Besides, several areas of Morelganj, Sharankhola, Kachua, Rampal, and Chitalmari in Bagerhat have inundated by the tidal water. Due to the rising water level of the Daratana and the Bhairab rivers, the main roads of several areas, including Rahat junction, Kaprapatti, Puratan Bazar, the heart of Bagerhat district town, have been submerged.

Bagerhat East Sundarbans Division Karamjal Breeding Centre in charge, Azad Kabir said the Karamjal tourist center, known as the Sundarbans’ comparatively high point, was submerged in three feet of water. The tanks of the crocodile breeding center have submerged in salt and sandy clay water.

However, due to the encirclement, it has been possible to save the crocodiles and the endangered butterflies species. However, the habitats and laying places of crocodiles roaming in different Sundarbans areas have submerged. As a result, the growth of crocodile babies is uncertain

He added that the eggs of the high earthen fort next to the wall for all the animals and crocodiles at the Karamjal breeding center are still protected from water. There was no water.
